On-Campus New Student Orientation

Summer/Fall 2024 Program Schedule 

8:15 AM – Check In & More!

*Grab-n-go Breakfast Items and Activities 

8:45 AM – Welcome to SIU  

9:40 AM – Financing Your Saluki Experience  

10:30 AM – Academic Connection  

11:40 AM - 12:15 PM – Lunch Provided by New Student Programs (Catered by Student Center Marketplace)  

*Various sub sandwiches, pasta salad, tossed veggie salad, chips with dip, cookies & brownies

12:00 PM - 1:00 PM - Resource Fair 

1:05 PM – Introduction to First Year Experience (for Supporters) 

               - Saluki-to-Saluki Panel Discussion led by Orientation Leaders (for Students) 

1:40 PM – Supporter-to-Supporter Panel Discussion (for Supporters)

               - Connecting with Orientation Leaders (for Students)

2:20 PM – Residence Hall & Campus Tours

4:30 PM – Saluki Hangout (Mondays & Fridays - Bowling & Pizza; Saturdays - Bingo & Pizza)  

Virtual New Student Orientation

If you are unable to make it to one of the on-campus orientations (preferred option), you may register for a virtual experience. 

Virtual Orientation includes:

  • Welcome from administration, faculty, & current students
  • Engagement with Orientation Leaders
  • Saluki Traditions
  • Academic College Welcome 

Saluki Hangout 

Available during on-campus New Student Orientation

Meet other incoming Salukis and current students for an evening of fun on-campus activities that include bowling, billiards, and E-sports. Dinner will be provided. Supporters are welcome to attend.
